A scary night tonight . . .

The story of life in general -- everything wonderful . . . followed by a major change.

Things were so nice last weekend.  Lovely, lovely weather --  the land drying out.  Buddy and Lisa back.  I had even begun to lose weight already!   Then today . . . well, things are a BIT less than lovely at the moment.

First of all, Mark is really really sick out there on the rig.  He can't even talk without coughing -- so we can't have our regular daily phone calls.  Sigh.  Then yesterday they began to predict heavy rain tonight and tomorrow.  I didn't think too much about that.  But now they're talking a MAJOR storm with high winds and even some tornadoes.  Eeeek!  And  Mark was SUPPOSED to come home at midnight tonight.  But now they're saying the waves out there in the Gulf may be as high as 10-12 feet by midnight tonight!  Well, the boat that brings the guys in from the rig to the port can't run in waves more than 6 feet high -- let alone 10 or 12!  And the helicopters they use when the boats can't run? . . . well, they can't run in the high winds that will also be happening out there.  NOT good.  So it looks like Mark may be stuck out there until Thursday while sick as a dog!   Poor guy!

Well, if this sort of thing never happened we would probably begin to think that a good life is just "normal" -- and we wouldn't appreciate those happy days nearly as much.  Or so I keep telling myself.

(But I sure wish Mark could go see his doctor then climb into bed.)
