Update

NO tornado last night.  Whew!  Mark tells me over and over again that tornadoes "never strike below I-10."  Now what kind of effect an interstate could possibly have on weather is beyond me, but that does seem to be the case - regardless of whether he made that up!  I've been in Louisiana for all but 9 years since 1974 and have never seen it happen in our area in all that time.  I still get a little nervous - well, okay . . . maybe a LOT nervous - when the weather service sends out tornado warnings, but it HAS never actually happened here.

There may have been no tornado, but there WAS a horrendous amount of rain last night.  This morning our "pond" is full to the top and there are huge puddles all over the property, but today is the last day it's supposed to rain for the next week so I'm hoping that by Saturday morning the ground will have dried out enough that the horses can be turned back out (at last) and the grass wouldn't by destroyed by the horses trampling it while it's soaking wet.  And with all that rain, the winter rye grass we planted in late fall has grown at least a few inches over the last week so I'm sure Duke and Lizzie are going to be ecstatic.   Good grass in winter!   Wow!
