I'm sure most of you have probably seen or read about Erin Bolster and her horse "Tonk" by now,

Erin is tall, but Tonk is enormous - a Percheron cross who weighs 1800 pounds! |
but in case you haven't, check out this Letterman interview. When I first read about the incident, I was surprised, first, that she would ride TOWARD an attacking grizzly, and even more surprised that a HORSE was willing to listen to her and actually do that! Amazing. There are a LOT of articles out there, but I like this article the best.
Okay -- back to "real life." It's been in the high 70's down here all week. Nice.
And what are we doing that's interesting? Truthfully? . . . not much. Well, we ARE going to switch out the little twin bed on our sleeping porch with the queen size bed from one of the guest rooms. That particular guest room isn't huge, so a daybed will be just fine. But the real reason for the switch is that when I'm sleeping outside in freezing weather and turn over in that bed, I end up waking up because my butt is freezing! . . . the covers are just too narrow. So once we switch out the beds, I'll be able to comfortably turn over WITHOUT waking myself up! AND it will be possible for both Mark and me to sleep out there (if I can talk him into it). Excellent!
Oh - and about that SUV . . . here are the "real" photos:
So - it looks like we will be keeping it (instead of trading it in on something Mark likes better). Turns out he likes it a lot after all. And although I doubt that we will ever have to do it, it's good to know we have a vehicle now that can easily contain ALL our animals in case we ever do have to evacuate for some reason. My truck can, of course, pull our (relatively light) horse trailer, but this one will pull up to 11,000 lbs. -- about twice as much as mine. And there is so much space in the back that fitting in 3 dogs and 5 cats would be NO problem.
Oh - when we went to pick up the other car at the airport Friday after he got home, I saw for the first time the water-fall wall they've built between the airport and the parking garage. Now when you come out of the terminal, the view is vastly improved.
The water doesn't show up all that well in those pictures, but it really is lovely.
Okay. Enough about all that. Time to go saddle up Lizzie.

I don't have cable so I hadn't seen that story about Tonk. Thanks so much for sharing it.
