Just got a call back from LSU and Ann Chapman (our regular horse vet) will be coming out on Wednesday afternoon to give Duke and Lizzie their annual check-ups, and to check Duke's and Lizzie's teeth and give them their annual vaccinations. I'll feel at least a little better once she's examined them. (I got a nice e-mail from her telling me they had just told her what happened to Bug and how sorry she was. I cried again, but it was very nice of her.)
I'll also be interested to see what she has to say about that colic medicine I got last week. But hey -- even if she doesn't think it's good, I want to have every possible solution available. Oh - I also have a stethoscope ordered. The instructions with that medicine said it would work within a very short time IF you could hear bowel sounds on only one side, but that if there were no intestinal sounds on either side, then call the vet . . . IMMEDIATELY. So I figured I better get a stethoscope so I could tell for sure. (NOT that I wouldn't be calling the vet immediately anyway . . .)
I also got a note a few minutes ago from the Ag. Extension agent that I e-mailed to ask if there were any poisonous weeds or plants common in this Parish. She said she was passing my note on to a new "county agent" who would be getting in contact with me, so we'll see what we find out from him -- eventually.
I have no idea what else I can do, but I feel like I should be doing SOMETHING for the horses constantly. Wonder if I'll ever get past that?
