Loooong but productive day ...

Started the morning at physical therapy.  And it worked pretty well this time, actually.

When I got home, Buddy and Lisa were already riding around on Duke and Ladybug.  I was excited!  They haven't been ridden in months!   (And sometimes they were acting like it, too.)
I know you would think that Buddy would be riding Duke and Lisa would be on Ladybug, but believe me, Duke is a LOT easier to control than Bug is, and Buddy is a more proficient rider than Lisa according to them.  He used to ride and show walking horses at one time, I'm told.

But look at Bug, would you? . . . she is actually SWEATING!!  The girl has anhidrosis.  She NEVER sweats.  But apparently she gotten better now.  Not sure if its the One AC she's been on - or (more likely) the fact that she has a lot of shade now that's she's home that she didn't have over at Al's place.  Either way, I am SO glad she's getting back to normal.
One thing I didn't pay any attention to at the time, but have noticed in a number of these photos -- it looks like Lisa didn't adjust the stirrups on Duke's saddle.  She probably didn't want to make any changes to the saddle thinking that it was fitted to us, but actually it wasn't.  Torri was the last person to ride Duke and she's even shorter than I am!  Waaay shorter than Lisa.  Lisa's knees are at a level in these pictures that looks almost like she's sitting in a chair.  Not a very secure arrangement.  We'll have to adjust those things next time so she'll be a lot more comfortable.
Here's Buddy riding Lizzie.  He rode her for quite a while -- the whole time it took Lisa and I to bath Duke and Ladybug.  Of course, Lizzie got a bath too after the first two were done - for what THAT was worth.  She invariably rolls in the dirt the MINUTE she's turned loose after a bath.  In this case, though, we shut her in her stall so she could only roll in the gravel and shavings, so she's still (relatively) clean.

Here she is while the shampoo stuff takes effect.  I used that EZ-all shampoo that you just spray on, let it sit for five minutes, then rinse it off without having to scrub.  First time I've tried it, but the stuff works like a champ and smells really, REALLY good!

Lisa talked to them and kept them entertained while they waited to be rinsed!  They all love her - it's amazing.
And here she is "communicating" with Bug and Bug is just lapping it up.  Now THAT is really amazing!

They headed out early in the afternoon.  Lisa's birthday is Tuesday so they were going out to eat tonight.  Not long after they left, Mark came home and we drove over to the tent sale at Harbor Freight and got three little dollies to put the containers of horse feed on, and Mark got himself some new saw horses.  Then we went over to Wal-Mart for groceries.  BIG mistake!  I hadn't eaten anything much all day. So I came home with three bags of chips, 9 containers of cookies and scones, several kinds of exotic yogurt, and some peach sherbet!  Yum!

The internet connection was offline when we got home, so I unplugged everything, then plugged it back in and it started up again.  Found an e-mail note from Gwen, an "internet friend" whose Swiss Mountain Dog had leg surgery over at LSU this week.  Her poor dog's leg was in much worse shape than Joey's and required 3 1/2 hours of surgery!  And now it's badly swollen and sore and Gwen is really upset.  I wish there were something I could do to help.  Poor thing.

Not sure what we have in mind for tomorrow, but I feel like we've gotten almost everything done today that I'd planned for the weekend.  It's going to be good to kick back and relax tomorrow.  And I'm going to try and remember exactly what they made me do at therapy today and do that again in the morning because I feel sooo much better now than I have all week.  It was really effective.  Hope it works that well tomorrow!  Fingers crossed.
