Now that Janet has gotten her book published and she's once again available for riding, I've ended up unable to ride now. Darn! (We have GOT to get our schedules synchronized better than this somehow!)
On the other hand, when my back has hurt in the past, riding a nice gaited horse actually HELPED. It just feels a lot different this time around so I feel like I need to be a lot more careful. But I think maybe I'll saddle up Lizzie and get someone to lead her around starting at a walk to see just how riding will feel this time. I've been afraid to try it alone because if it turned out that riding did hurt, I doubt seriously that Lizzie would stand still while I figured out some way to get back off again! Could be a disaster.
And it's been a while since Lizzie's been ridden, too (again) -- and she was way less than cooperative the last time she'd been on this lengthy a hiatus. So I think the cautious thing to do would be to try it in a REALLY safe way this time out.
Okay. So that's the plan for the first part of the weekend. Then once all the things we have scheduled have been done (physical therapy for me, new help for Mark), we'll head over to Janet and Mike's on Sunday and relax for a while!
