Monday

Joey and I are home again.  I WAS going to go find some gloves and pull the vines off the trees in the back pasture but it poured down rain this afternoon so it's messy out there.  But I looked out this morning before I left for work and saw Duke eating some sort of vine off one of the trees.  I HOPE it wasn't poison ivy - not just because it can't be good for him, but because it won't be safe to kiss him on the nose if he's been sticking that nose in poison ivy!  Yuk!

I also wanted to go out and limb up all the magnolia trees in the front yard.  I can't swear who is responsible, but SOMEONE (who shall remain nameless) apparently used the lower branches of one of them to scratch her back . . . and managed to break off two limbs that were at least 4 inches in diameter!  Mark had to get a saw to cut them off neatly - they were way too large for the usual trimmers.

You know,  I remember all those small live oaks in the pasture over at Janet and Mike's old place.  Each one of them had a circle of wire fencing around it.   Aaaah -- NOW I know why that was!

Have I mentioned lately that it has been hot, hot, HOT down here for what seems like forever?  Okay, so I guess I have.  Well anyway, I looked at my Google home page before leaving work this evening and saw this in the forecast for later this week:

Wow!  65???   I absolutely cannot WAIT!

Ha!

Turned out the "local weather" on my Google home page had gone to a New York setting instead of Louisiana!  Now I can understand how a person might choose to leave Louisiana for New York in August.  But a computer???  Hey - if a computer wants to believe it's in New York, it MUST be hotter than hell down here!
