Joey update

Okay!  Joey got his stitches out this afternoon and was examined by Dr. Saile, the surgeon who did his knee surgery.  She said he's making completely normal progress.  I was afraid something had gone wrong since he was using his leg less than he was right after the surgery.  But today - I don't know if was the excitement of being back at LSU or what -- he was actually putting some weight on that leg again some of the time while we were there so I'm thinking once he gets back to therapy he'll be fine.  Relief!

He has to continue to wear that cone collar for another two days until the little openings where the stitches came out are  healed completely.  Then he has to continue to stay in his crate for another month - until his final exam.  He has to be on a leash every single time he leaves the crate so he can't race around and pull something until everything on the inside has a chance to heal completely.  I'm so glad I got him that giant crate.  At least he'll be able to stand up and move around a little bit.  I'd be afraid ALL his muscles would begin to atrophy if he were forced to spend an entire two months just laying there in one spot!

But he gets to start back to therapy again this Friday, as well. (They've been closed for the last week while the therapists have been out of town at a seminar somewhere.)  He's going to be soooo happy about THAT!  He loves going to therapy so much, and he's been so disappointed that he never gets to leave his crate except to go to the bathroom over the last week.  And by Friday, he'll probably be able to get back on the water treadmill, too -- his favorite thing!

Anyway, we're home now and it's only a little after 3.  Nice!  I'm going to go down and make myself one of those wonderful salads with everything we have around in it, then I'm going to throw those sleeping porch blankets into the wash and sit down and watch Jeopardy.  Looking forward to the afternoon.

(The cats are going to be disappointed about that -- they're really enjoying those blankets that I threw on the floor out there when I remade the bed.  They're NOT going to be happy when I take them away.)

Yes, that's a finger on the edge of that top picture.  Took those pics with the phone and I never remember that the camera is on the SIDE of the thing and not in the middle.

Okay - time to go get started so I'll be done in time for Jeopardy.  Sort of a mini-vacation!
