And then there's Bug . . .

I'll tell you what, I always used to have 6 or 8 dogs at a time and rarely had any problems with anyone to speak of.  Now?  Well lately ALL of us seem to have SOME sort of medical problems.

Of course there's Joey who's over in ICU at LSU at the moment, having had his knee surgery today. That's this week's main problem.  But I think I'm going to have to track down Dr. Chapman next (Bug's vet) and ask her if the fact that Bug's ear is bent over like it is can be remedied.  It was a little bent the last time I changed out her fly mask, but it seems to have gotten worse over the last 3 or 4 days.  Will it ever stand back up again?  It isn't seeping or draining at all anymore and it isn't hurting her at all.  But one side is still swollen.  Maybe that's what makes it bend like it does.  I wonder if that will ever change?

Here it is from the back.

Her vet put a braid in her mane after she cleaned her ear the last time and then taped the end of it to keep it in place.  Now I can't figure out how the heck to get that thing out of there without just cutting it off!  That's why her mane looks so tacky.  I can't brush the front of it at the moment.

If I press down on her head in front of her ear, that ear stands up a BIT  - but still not completely straight up, obviously.

But on the plus side, as I said, her ear doesn't hurt her at all anymore, and there are no flies bothering it, so that's definitely a good thing.  And I guess if her vet says it's not going to change, hey . . . it's not the end of the world.  Heck, she's 23 years old!    We all look a whole lot more peculiar these days than we did when we were young!
