I took Joey out of that crate and helped him into his regular bed and fed him there and he was soooo much happier. So far he hasn't made the slightest attempt to leave that bed.
When he finished eating, he didn't even seem to want to go out, he just lay back down in the bed, I covered him with his usual "blankie" and he hasn't moved at all in the last hour, so I'm just leaving him there for now and checking in on him every few minutes instead of making him go back into the crate.
If Joey DOES get out of that bed, he probably won't go anywhere anyway because as soon as that e collar runs into something he just stands there until I come and back him up so he can move forward again! I stuck Rocky outside since I can't be sure he wouldn't lick at Joey's incision if he's not in his crate. I guess I'll put up the dog gate that we use when Vickie and the Westies are here to keep Boo upstairs, and put Rocky inside downstairs so he won't have to stay out in the heat and Joey can be by himself in the bedroom (except for me!).
I'm going to wait until late this afternoon to go get one of those more comfy collars for him so that I'll know whether it's safe to leave him in his bed while I'm gone. It looks like Petco has a broader selection (at least online) than PetSmart so I guess I'll run over there to Siegen and check. Shouldn't be gone more than 45 minutes or so. And for now? . . . BACK TO BED for a nice nap. (Hope Joey stays quiet for a couple hours at least!)
