Still playing with the phone . . .

and having a FINE time!  In the preloaded applications on my DX phone there was an Amazon MP3 download app, but I wanted to be able to check prices on Amazon, not just download music, so I touched the "Market" icon and did a search, and it brought up several other Amazon applications including "Amazon Shopping."  I downloaded that one, and when I opened it, there was a row of icons across the top of the screen:  bar code, speaker, search, basket and home.  I touched the bar code icon.  It said that in order to use that I needed to download another item, but the path was right there and I just had to touch it and the bar code reader downloaded.  Once that was finished (in about 10 seconds), I touched the barcode icon in the Amazon app again.  The screen turned into what looked like a viewfinder but with a red line across the center.  I grabbed a tube of hand cream that was sitting right next to me and stuck it under the phone and ZIP . . . it instantly showed 3 or 4 different versions of that hand cream on Amazon complete with prices and descriptions.  And I mean INSTANTLY!  What fun!

Given how well that Amazon barcode application works, I think I'll download one of those general bar code applications that are supposed to show you prices at all the nearby local stores for whatever you scan.   I'm telling you, I'm beginning to feel like I'm living in a Star Trek episode!

I love new technology in general, but over the last decade a lot of things have gotten so complicated that I've needed instructions or even someone else to install them, but THIS . . . this phone is so intuitive that it's incredibly easy to play with and I haven't once gotten so frustrated that I felt like pitching in on the floor and stomping on it (as I have with so many other new techy items).   I just love the thing!
