Mid-week

Been spending the work day yesterday and today happily searching the web for material to use in response to a trademark lawsuit against a state agency.  Fun!  Of course when I get done, I'm going to have to document all those sites and download printouts as exhibits.  That will NOT be fun.  But hey -- one thing at a time.  Still having a good time at the moment.

Got to get out of here early enough today to go pick up a LOT more stall shavings.  Keeping those horses inside nights through this cold spell has required a LOT of stall cleaning.  Thought that was over now that the temperatures are going back up into the upper 60's and 70's, but tonight we're supposed to have thunderstorms so it's inside with them once again.

Keep hearing about all those poor folks who are stuck in airports all over the East coast.  How awful.  And how 'bout all those people who had to stay ON the plane for 12 hours after it landed in New York??? . . .  I think I'd have been tempted to throw such a fit that the police would have had to come get me and put me in a cell where I could at least stretch out my legs!!  I think I'm going to pass on any plane flights during the winter from now on.

Mark is still planning to drive up to Michigan to visit his Aunt Connie this May.  I WAS going to stop off in Ohio and let him pick me up on his way back, but I think I'd like to go along and meet her and we can BOTH stop off in Ohio on our way back instead.  She sends such nice letters to us several times a year and just sounds like such a sweetheart that I really want to get to know her.  And she is in her 80's, I think, so better sooner than later, I think.

Hey - if Dale and Shirley get around to buying a house, maybe we can go by there and help with the move on our way to or from Michigan.  Heaven knows if they DO move they will need all the help they can get -- living in that same house for all these decades will have certainly contributed to a MAJOR backlog of "stuff."   Not that we should talk!  We've only lived in our place for about 5 years and it's already overflowing with stuff we don't even know how to locate!!  (Like my gun, for instance, speaking of things we can't locate . . .)

While John and Vickie were down here, John was helping me search the internet for a new carry gun.  I am always embarrassed to say this, but I took my gun out of the truck the last time I took it in for service and since the maid was coming the same day, I put it somewhere where I knew the maid would not come across it.  Unfortunately, I haven't come across it myself since then! . . . and that was almost a year ago.  I've decided to give up and buy myself a new one.  (That's usually all it takes to find something I've misplaced anyway.)   So when the old gun turns up then, I'll have two.  Perfect!

Went by one of our gun stores the other day to try out some of the guns I've been considering and discovered one I had NOT been considering -- the Kahr K9.  No, I didn't make that up . . . it really IS called a "K9" . . . in fact, that was probably what made me notice it to begin with.  But when I picked it up, I found that I really like the feel of it.  Some online searches indicate that it's an excellent choice - nice light trigger pull, minimal recoil, excellent construction, AND made in the US.  Nice.

And it's maybe 2/3 the price of that Para Ordnance Hawg I love so much (but that NO ONE around here seems to stock).

I guess the Hawg could be a problem getting caught on stuff in my purse too, though, so . . . maybe the Kahr would be better.

Still, I'd like to actually get a chance to handle the Hawg before I decide.  I rented a Para Ordnance 45 at one of our local firing ranges a few years back, and that unique LDA (light double action) trigger mechanism of theirs was AMAZING.  Incredibly light and smooth -- even in 45 caliber.

Good grief!  You think it's possible to "inherit" decision-making problems from your child?  Because I'm beginning to feel about as indecisive as Wendy when it comes to making this decision!

As for Mark, he just pretty much shakes his head and ignores me since HE has a gun he loves AND can locate . . . as can I, for that matter, so at least I'm safe at home in the meantime.
