MORE progress

That upstairs A/C crapped out AGAIN yesterday, so Mark got the air conditioner guy to come and we found out that the reason it was giving in was because the coils were FILTHY.   So . . . he got a contract for him to come clean them both up twice a year.  Darned good thing.  We really do NOT want them to go out while the temperatures are setting daily record highs!  We've gone over 100 degrees several times this week so far.  Whew!

We also got a bid Tuesday from a nice young man to install those door/shutters on our front windows.   They're going to look exactly like this (but on the outside, of course!) - and they'll be a darkish teal color instead.  But he's going to put those rows of lines in there to make it look like they're made of boards and add those "Z" boards and that handle, then paint them and install them.  We've already bought the sliding door hardware -- it's exactly like in that picture, as a matter of fact.  So we just need to get the paint and he will deal with getting the boards.  Mark isn't crazy about this project, but I like our house to look like a farm house so I'm looking forward to this.  AND they will be very handy in case of hurricanes.  We will be able to just slide them closed and fasten a chain around the two handles and the windows will be protected.

It wasn't a bad price either, actually. Those four doors have been sitting out there on our front porch for well over a year and are still just fine, so apparently once they're actually painted they should hold up indefinitely. (Nothing like checking that out by doing nothing for a year, huh?)

Then I think that same guy will be able to help Mark finish up a lot of stuff in the barn, as well.  But first things first - getting those shutters installed.
