Looking forward to the looooong weekend!

Been kind of holding my breath, so to speak, waiting for life to get back to "normal" lately.  But Mark went back to work last week and today we both got paid (instead of just me!) and things in general are apparently pretty much back to normal again.

I went to get a "Life Line Screening" yesterday where they did a quick check for these things:

Stroke/Carotid Artery disease
Peripheral Arterial Disease
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
Atrial Fibrillation

No one looked at me strangely or suggested I go to the hospital instead of heading home, so I assume everything was fine.  ;-D    But I get the results in the mail "later" -- not sure what that means.

I'll be going back up to Zoilo's Sunday morning, and I hope to spend more time riding Arthur then than I had a chance to do last weekend.  I HOPE I can also convince someone to go with me and video my ride so I can see what I need to "fix."  Or maybe I can just take a tripod and set up the camera looking in the right general direction, then get Zoilo to hit the start button once I get going.  We'll figure SOMETHING out.

While we talked, Zoilo also said I could come out at the same time as another friend of Jan's who is having him train her mare so we could try riding together.  I'm looking forward to that -- that way I can be sure Arthur isn't going to give me any problems riding with horses he's never been pastured with if I go on trail rides.  And if he does, Zoilo will be there to help me out!  EXCELLENT plan.

John Giamalva is down here from DC checking out something to do with Louisiana sea food.  (He works for the International Trade Commission up there in DC and they sent him over to Lafayette for some sort of analysis of something.)  But while he's down here I'm sure he'll be visiting with us -- especially since he and Vickie are seriously considering purchase of that land next door to us that he hasn't actually seen since they put it up for sale the week before last.

Oh - every morning when I wake up lately (since Arthur has been gone), Lizzie is standing right outside one of the doors to Duke's stall.  The first morning I saw her there - right after I got home from Ohio - I walked over to see what was going on and Duke was laying flat in his stall just like Ladybug was the day she died!  Scared the CRAP out of me!  I ran in there and kneeled down next to him, rubbing his side and talking to him but he didn't so much as lift his head.  He opened his eyes but just laid still.  Yikes!  I listened to his chest and heard rumbling so it didn't seem possible that he could have colic, but when he didn't jump up I decided to run inside and call the vet anyway.  But the minute I went out the stall door he did jump up.  Apparently he just LIKED being rubbed while laying out flat!  Good grief!

So I guess Lizzie has just taken on the duty of guarding him while he naps.  They're always out in the pasture when I go to sleep - and if I get up during the night for some reason.  But in the morning at first light . . . there she is, standing over him in his bed.  (He's going to be UN-happy when Arthur comes home - bet she doesn't do that anymore then.)

Well, it's a good day.  I got in early (7:15) this morning, and then everyone will be getting off at 3 this afternoon.  So that should make up the time I took off yesterday for that Life Line screening.  That worked well.

So now that it's almost 3, I'm heading out to AVS to pick up Harley's ashes, then going on home and kicking back for the evening.  Mark needs to order a bunch of electrical "stuff" for the barn, but I need him to help me locate it if he wants me to order it online since I haven't a clue about that stuff.  (Or maybe he'll just go get it over at Lowes.)  Whatever.

I need to at least go home and vacuum so the place won't be quite so tacky when John comes by.
