Okay - I'm back at work. The weather yesterday was just beautiful and it looks like today is going to be just as nice. Wish I could have stayed home to enjoy it. But I did come in early so I'll be able to go home at 3:30 today. Now next week that would be a REALLY terrific time to get home since it won't get dark then until 7:30. Can't WAIT for daylight savings time!
Janet and Mike came by yesterday and we had lunch over at a Mexican restaurant ON THE PATIO -- the day was that gorgeous! I was hoping they would be able to give me an opinion about why Lizzie stands around panting. But -- of course -- when they were here she was behaving perfectly normally again. Sigh. But in discussing it, we've pretty much agreed that the panting is probably just a sign of pain for some reason. Since she's NOT colicing, I'm thinking maybe it has to do with arthritis. Jan gives one of their horses who have that problem some pain meds that are milder than Bute, so I'm going to check with her vet and see if I can order some of that stuff for Lizzie and see if that helps when she acts distressed.
Got an e-mail this morning from Karen, the sister of the guy I dated for years before Mark and I married. Gosh - that was 20 years ago! She and I both worked at Dow for all the years I lived in Baton Rouge before I went back to school at UT. In fact, it was their mom who got me the grant that made it possible for me to afford to get my degree! (That's why I went back to school over in Texas -- their mom lives in Fort Worth.) Anyway, Karen has had MS for as long as I've known her, but that's never stopped her from doing pretty much anything she felt like doing. She's a very special person. Anyway, she said in her note that she's had FOUR surgeries since Christmas (!!) but that she's feeling fine now and will be able to drive starting next week. She said "let's get together in the next month or so - before we lose touch for another 20 years!" Excellent idea. Can't wait to see her!
But I doubt that we'll actually lose touch like that again since she's given in and gotten on Facebook. ;-D She said so many people harassed her about it that she had to do it. I told her I'm sure she'll get so used to it she that she won't be able to imagine life without that constant info from her friends on there. It's just part of life after a point. (No wonder those guys are rich now that Facebook is public!)
