I'll tell you what, the more I think about little Arthuray, the more excited I get about bringing him home. Can't wait!
The deal is that he has to pass an exam by my vet before I finish paying and bring him home, though. Reasonable enough, right? But Debbie works TWO jobs at some very odd hours so I agreed that she should call and schedule the time for the exam that works for her, and I would just take off work whenever the exam gets scheduled and meet the vet and Debbie over there at the time. I told my boss about what's going on and he's fine with me just heading out WHENEVER the vet goes to check out the boy. (My boss is a VERY special "animal person.")
Well the LSU vet who always deals with our horses was off today, and they weren't able to say whether she would be available tomorrow or not. She definitely isn't available on Thursday - she has something scheduled somewhere else. And on Friday the appointment would be 4 in the afternoon -- a time that doesn't work for Debbie. I'm beginning to think I should have just paid Debbie and brought Arthuray home, then let Anne come to the house and do his exam there. Where we live is so much closer to LSU than where he is now. It will take a good 45 minutes or an hour to get out to Debbie's place from LSU, while she's generally out by our place anyway almost every day.
Oh well. Too late now. But I really hope his exam gets done before the weekend so we can go get him before Mark has to go back to work!
In the meantime, I've really been enjoying that mule group I joined on FaceBook - Mule Sense (and other equines) -- the one that was started by the girl who owned Sippi - that mule we went to see last weekend. Darned good thing she's had some experience with mules because THAT boy is NOT a laid-back sort! But her group is really terrific.
Well, I better get the dogs fed and everything done so I can get to bed early . . . so I can get back UP early . . . so I can feed the horses and clean up the stalls in the morning before work.
Mark is stuck with going to meetings in Lafayette Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week. The company pays him extra when they have him do those things, but it's NOT worth losing his time off, if you ask me. (NOT that he can do anything about it. So I guess I better just deal with it.)
