Back to the little guy . . . "Arthuray"

After looking at all those mules I've looked at so far --that I would have been afraid to ride -- I'm heading back this evening to try riding that little guy who was the very first one I looked at -- "Arthuray."  I was disturbed by how small he was at the time, but now I think his size would be perfect for me.  Riding in a group on horses, the other people will probably look at us strangely, but hey -- whatever works for me, right?  And he does like women in general so that's also a fine thing about him.

I'm hoping Jan will meet me over there and look at him with me this time (in case he has some physical problem that I can't see), but I need to go back out there this evening regardless.  When I called her this morning, his owner told me that a guy had said he wanted to buy him and was supposed to come back with the money yesterday, but he didn't show up at the scheduled time and they had to go away, so they DO still have him.  So I'm going back over there tonight instead of waiting for the weekend.  They have a lighted arena, so if it's dark by then it really won't matter anyway.

The problem when I first went to look at him is that they had already sold his saddle and had nothing to use to demonstrate riding him.  They do have a saddle, but he needs a smaller cinch than they have - only 26" she said.  So I'll have to go through ours and see what I can come up with.  Or maybe Jan has one that size.  One way or another, I have GOT to see him ridden - and hopefully try riding him myself.

But considering the price they're asking (less than $500), if I need to, I could have a trainer work with him.  The main consideration is his personal attitude in general -- which was very nice.  Although he was loose, he still hung out with all of us asking to be petted while I was there.  That is NOT something any of the other mules I've looked at were at ALL prone to do!

Here's the ad they placed for him:

And here again are pictures taken last time I was out there:

So --- I'm hoping . . .
