Well, when I talked to Mark last night, he said it was highly unlikely that there could be a giant snake under that bed on the porch. (He didn't laugh, but I think it MIGHT have crossed his mind.) He said something like a possum or a raccoon or an armadillo would be a lot more likely. We do have a lot of them living around our property -- at the base of trees and under bushes and just in the ground all over the place, so I guess that's certainly possible. I stood outside last night for a while and didn't hear anything so MAYBE whatever-it-is has gone from inside the porch, but I kind of think now that whatever it is probably lives UNDER that porch since both Rocky and Boo have been trying to dig under there after SOMETHING for the last couple weeks. Checked online and it said that female possums in particular really try and live inside walls and in attics and under houses. It also said that throwing moth balls under there may encourage a possum to leave - not sure what would drive off those other two critters -- I haven't had time to check on all of them yet. But LOTS of mothballs are definitely going under there THIS weekend. Maybe even tonight!
And when Mark gets home it will be time to install a new (lockable) dog door out there, and I'm thinking it might be a good idea to put down some quarter-inch plywood over the floor out there, as well, then either paint it or cover it with indoor/outdoor carpet.
Sorry, Mark! Your "list" just never gets any shorter, does it!
