The rain did back off for a little while, and the parish came by to unclog the front ditch.
| That water here in our front yard is there because the water in the canal over to the right is so high it can't drain out. |
| The ditch here in the front of our place was almost ready to overflow. Glad they dug out the dirt blocking that pipe through the cross-over. |
They dug out the dirt that was blocking the pipe under that cross-over on the right above and the water started flowing again and the level began to drop FAST. Darned good thing, too, because at 5 PM, despite the weather forecast predicting the end of the rain around 4 PM, it is POURING out there once more.
Check out the local radar at the moment:
Doesn't look to me like it's likely to stop anytime soon, that's for sure. (We're just below Baton Rouge -- right there in the heavy rain portion.) Good grief! I may actually have to sleep INSIDE tonight!
**** 10:50 PM: Well, it HAS stopped raining finally. But according to the news tonight, we had 4 1/2" of rain today.
"Plenty."
