Hot . . .

I don't know if it's global warming, or just me getting old, but I'm having a much harder time dealing with the heat this year than I've had in the past.  And it's gotten worse over this last week or so.  It is so so SO hot.  I've been waiting 'til 7 or so to head over to the barn and feed and clean up the horses.  But even so, by the time I get home at dark, I just want to collapse in a heap on the floor.  I'm not even hungry!  Good grief --for me not to want to eat . . . that's HOT !

And I feel so sorry for poor Bug.  It must be just awful to have to stand out there in temperatures pushing 100 degrees and not be capable of sweating to dissipate her own body heat.  I tell you what, if they were home here I'd be tempted to leave the door from the air conditioned tack room open to cool down her stall!  (Mark - you didn't hear that.)  Actually, I'll bet she would go stand in the pond when there's water in there.  Al used to have a huge concrete vault that he used for a water trough in one of the pastures when I first started boarding over there, and I can remember Bug climbing in there and just standing there while the water flowed in over her legs.  She still stands with her front feet in the water barrels sometimes!   Hmm.  Mark, maybe we should think about building her some sort of horse wading pool or something.  ;-))  Anyone have any suggestions about what we might do for her?  (Other than sending her to live up north -- unfortunately for her, I'm too selfish to give her up.)
