I had just finished giving Duke a bath this evening and cleaning the clumps of mud out of his mane (again) when I noticed that someone had laid my training stick on a stump near the wash rack. I went over to get it, walking along the sloped ground between that big tree and the cattle pen. I slipped a little, so I put my foot out to balance myself on that stump.
Really BAAAD idea! The stump was completely rotted so my foot went through it and all the way down to ground level -- about a foot or more. Now that wouldn't have been so bad EXCEPT that the thing was completely full of fire ants!!! AAAAAAAHHH! My foot and leg were covered with them!! Those of you who don't live in the south have no idea how awful that is! When the darned things bite, every single one leaves yet another blister. And the bite itself stings like . . . well, you know.
All those brown dots in this picture are ants! If if THAT doesn't creep you out, maybe this video will!
The video leaves a lot to be desired, but I was still in the process of brushing away ants every once in a while - both real and imaginary at that point! - so it's a little shaky. Hmm. Wonder where the fire ant line is these days. If we move, it will definately be NORTH of that line, that's for sure!!

OMG Lady - it was not your day ~ OUCH! So where is the picture of your foot and leg? So sorry - hope it heals up FAST! Later Shirley
Listen, Shirley, my foot and leg are not that attractive under the BEST of circumstances. Don't think I want to subject anyone to a current picture!
Hey -- HAPPY BIRTHDAY! (Or, like me, have you stopped having them???)
