Well, it's been not quite a week since Joey arrived (wow - it almost seems like he's always been here already), but he has obviously settled himself into our "pack." At first at night he would stand next to the bed and whine until I helped him up. The third night, I think, he managed to pull himself up there. So when I woke up last night in the middle of the night I wondered where he was since he hadn't climbed up on the bed. Looking around, I found him curled up in one of the dog beds like everyone else uses. Nice. (Mark will be relieved that the bed is no longer crowded.)
When I took the picture, though, the flash woke him up and he looked up at me like I must have lost my mind to be taking pictures at 3 am. He was probably right, but he just looked so CUTE!

When I went by Petsmart yesterday for Niki's dog food I happened to walk down the aisle with all the dog collars and leashes so I decided to go ahead and get Joey a choke collar for the obedience class next month. I found a really attractive variant with heavy nylon "ribbon" run through the links (they call it a "Comfort Chain") that makes the collar softer and quieter and much more attractive than a standard choke collar. Won't that red and silver look gorgeous against his beautiful silver coat!
And the coordinating (red) leash has a built-in traffic lead (short handle) that makes it very easy to keep him close by when necessary. There just seems to be all SORTS of new "stuff" out there. But after perusing the leash/collar aisle and the treat aisle, I figured I better skip "toys" and "grooming" and get on out of there before we ended up bankrupt!
