Almost the weekend - thank goodness

Well, Mark FINALLY got home around 8 this morning.

Finally.

They were supposed to be picked up off the rig on Tuesday at midnight and he should have gotten home early yesterday morning.  But virtually all the crew boats in the Gulf are apparently working for BP at the moment.  The men were going to come in on a boat that was scheduled to pick up the crew from another rig, but that boat broke down.  So by the time another boat was located, and the other crew was picked up and taken to the dock and the boat got back out to get them, it was almost midnight last night!   The guys in Mark's crew were all fit to be tied - especially one of the men whose daughter was having his first grandchild while he was stuck out there on the rig.  Poor guy.

My Alzheimers kicked in again this morning.  Because Mark was already sound asleep by the time I left for work, I called Joyce who was coming to clean today to tell her I would leave the front door open and not to ring the bell.  Then I proceeded to grab my purse, pick up my coffee, and head off to work . . . WITHOUT unlocking the front door.  Sigh.  So when she called me to say she couldn't get in I had to try and tell her how to open the garage door with the key pad.  Luckily for her (and me), my memory for numbers is far better than my memory for much of anything else and I DID remember the code for the keypad even though I never use the thing.  Still - what on earth was wrong with me to call her specifically to say I would leave the door open, then walk out without doing what I had just finished telling her I would do ???  Scary.  As Mark says, "It's going to be a LONG old age."
