Well, we had pretty much decided to wait until Niki and Ben passed before adopting another dog, but poor Rocky really has no one to play with anymore since Niki began having all those back and joint problems. So I was browsing on Petfinder the other day when I saw "Joey." Wow. What a gorgeous dog! He's apparently a Weimaraner/Pit mix -- two of my favorite breeds. And he appears to have been very well socialized -- something that's not always easy to find in a rescue dog.
You have GOT to check out this SLIDE SHOW OF JOEY. I think I read somewhere that the little boy in the pictures is the grandchild of the person fostering Joey. (Wish HE were available for adoption, too. Is he adorable or what!)
Here's Joey on Petfinder.com: Joey on Petfinder
And here is his listing on Scoutshonor.org: Joey on ScoutsHonor.org. It's a rescue group in Houston.
As many of you know, I absolutely adore Weimaraners (remember Bucky, Maxine and Gabby?), but we decided we wanted a dog a bit smaller this next time. (It was quite a challenge to get Niki's 125 lbs. into the car when she was really sick there for a while, so I'm thinking 60 or 70 lb. might be a little bit easier -- especially since we'll be in our 70's by the time this guy gets old and can't get around well anymore. Anyway, I sent in our application this afternoon. Crossing my fingers.

Well gosh, the music on Joey's video is enough to say - "Hey I'll adopt him." He's a good looking guy!!
