Mark took Gracie back to AVS this morning for more tests. She seemed to be feeling better - probably because of the steroid and pain killer injections they gave her yesterday. When we got home last night she was throwing up a LOT of blood before I got her to eat about a quarter can of canned dog food. After she ate, although she continued to cough, there no longer seemed to be any blood. Ulcers?? Do dogs get ulcers? We told the vets about that so we'll see what they come up with in her continuing exam today.
Mark also took L'il Guy, our yellow cat, along. He has a lump the size of an egg on one hip that I've been meaning to have examined. I didn't think it was anything because it seems loose in there and not grown into the tissue, but the way things have been going, I thought I better have it looked at. They agreed - it's just a nonmalignant growth. So he's going in May 7 to have it removed - no big deal. Thank goodness! I think we have more money invested in that cat than in any other animal except Mark's horse! He got attacked by a stray dog on our front porch last year and he DID have to go to the emergency clinic at LSU since it was the weekend and he came very close to death. MAJOR money. He's also our only REALLY good mouser. The others just sit there and watch mice and birds, etc. without the slightest attempt to move at all. It's like they think they're watching a movie!
Anyway, I'm glad L'il Guy is going to be okay, and I'm hoping against hope that Gracie has something that can actually be treated and NOT cancer.
