According to the weather guy, it was supposed to be awful today - thunderstorms, hail, even tornadoes. Instead it rained for about 4 minutes at 6 or so this morning, then the sun came up, the breeze began to blow and it has been absolutely GORGEOUS all day long.
Gracie is now marginally better. Although as she stands there and drools, she's still drooling blood, she is NOT coughing up blood constantly as she was all week. For a while there it sounded like she was drowning in her own blood because of all the blood collecting in her lungs. I thought several times last week that the kindest thing might be to take her back to the vet and end her pain. But she's eating again now. And wagging her tail again whenever we come in. So I'm going to wait a while and see if the steroids eventually cure the inflammation in her lungs.
I went by Wal-Mart today to pick up some canned puppy food for her. I thought it might have a bit more nutrition than the regular canned stuff, and she's lost a LOT of weight since she got sick. Anyway, while I was there I found that they had those Encore Azaleas for about half the price we paid for the ones we bought at the nursery last week. So tomorrow Mark will be planting 20-some azaleas, 10 camellias, a bunch of regular and New Guinea Impatiens, 2 sego palms, and 2 trees! When I came home he gave Jerry a call. He's going to need all the help he can get! But if it all gets planted, the front of this place is going to look better than it's looked in years! Can't wait to see it.
