Book report

A few of the other blogs I follow, in particular the Grey Horse Blog,  have been discussing how our horses' personalities do or do not mirror our own.
Just thought I'd throw in a reference to a book I read recently called "Ride the Right Horse: Understanding the Core Equine Personalities and How to Work with Them" by Yvonne Barteau.  It's a fascinating look at what she describes as the four horse "core personality types" --  social, fearful, aloof, and challenging -- and how various human personality types relate to, affect, and are affected by each.  It may or may not be scientifically accurate, but it was a really fun read.  It sort of reminded me of those books decades back that evaluated how various astrological signs fit together in the areas of romance, business, friendship, etc.   Just a lot of fun.  And I loved identifying the personality types, or combination of types, for each of our horses!  It also had quizes to figure out your OWN type as horse owner/rider/trainer.

I have NEVER been able to go shopping for a particular style horse. It has always happened that if the horse is for sale and I had the cash, well, it was too good to pass up. And it has worked out incredibly well (except for the inbred baby that came from a mare I bought that I didn't know was pregnant). How did you come by your horses?
