After believing I had lost my cell phone in the ankle-deep water in the side paddock, I bought myself another phone and all the accessories, got a new sim card — the whole nine yards. This morning when I got up I glanced over at the small table next to the lounge chair in the bedroom and … yep — cell phone. Sigh. Well, now when something DOES happen to my phone there will be an instant backup. I GUESS that’s a good thing.
Then I headed over to the barn to feed the horses. My bitchy mare, Ladybug, was being even more of a pain than usual, charging the sides of her stall and trying to bite the horses next to her. I didn’t pay a lot of attention because that’s her usual behavior when food is on its way. But when I went in to put her bucket down, she charged toward the horse on the other side of me and when I was in her way she bit me on the back! Even though my clothing included a jacket, she drew blood! I WAS FURIOUS!!
The first thing I did was remove the food bucket and set it just outside her stall where she couldn’t reach it. Then I ran her into the back of the stall away from both other horses and just dared her to try and come forward. After she seemed resigned to standing back there, I went ahead and fed the other two. When I came back I made her back around her stall and each time she tried to charge toward another horse I chased her to the back of the stall again using the snapper on the end of her lead rope. Finally I allowed her to come up and eat. Usually she charges the other horses between each bite. But this time she kept her head down and just kept eating. Once she’d downed about half of her feed, I left the stall to see what she would do. Still no charging. Maybe that’s what she’s needed for a long time — someone to put the fear of God into her when she acts up. We’ll see if the “new leaf” she seems to have turned over lasts until tonight.

I had taken my old computer in to the office yesterday so the computer guy could get the old hard drive out for me and I told him he could have it for his step-son. So this morning I went upstairs to our office and picked up the sides of the computer case that I had left at home when I took it in yesterday. Well, one of the panels slipped out of my hands and dropped onto my foot. Ouch!!! It hit my big toe just behind the nail bed. Talk ABOUT hurt. Looks like I may end up losing that nail before it’s over. What a morning! Things have got to get better from here, surely!
