I guess I need to either get my laptop repaired or get a new one if I expect to enter a daily blog again. I just prefer to hang out down in the living room with Mark instead of sitting up in the office using my regular computer! Hmm. Or maybe I need a roll-top desk in the living room so I could move my big computer down to that. Something to think about.
Well anyway . . . it's been a fine week. For one thing, we went up and spent Sunday afternoon over at Jan and Mike's place. I hadn't seen her in what felt like ages -- her dad had been sick and then he died last month so she was driving up to Hattiesburg, MS constantly and not seeing any of her friends over here for quite a while. We sure missed her! And I LOVED seeing Gus Sunday (their Bull Mastiff). He is the world's MOST adorable dog!
He looks a lot like Gigi but he's waaaaaaaay sweeter! (Bigger, too!) |
Oh, and Friday afternoon Mark and I had lunch over at Texas de Brazil. Yum! We love that place.
Sunday morning I did some shopping including Tractor Supply. While I was there getting some bags of feed that Shadow loves, I found horse stall mats that were exactly the size of Gigi's crate so I bought one and brought it home and wrapped it up in one of her blankets that she kept digging up and chewing apart. That mat is SO heavy (I could barely pick it up!) that she isn't able to pull that blanket away from it. So now she actually has a fine sleeping room and it also doesn't make any noise anymore since she can't scrape around on the metal floor. Excellent!
Here's Gigi's new horse mat in her crate. That blanket had been scratched by her a LOT but she wasn't able to pull it loose from the mat. Love it! |
Note that I also added that water bowl that's screwed onto the crate because no matter HOW heavy a water bowl on the ground is, she picks them up and throws them around. Ken even added cement to the bottom of one of those huge bowls and she STILL picked it up and dumped it out and threw it around against the metal walls so much at night that the nextdoor neighbors complained about it! Gees! When she came home I put water into a huge iron stock pot that's extremely heavy. She left that alone for a little while, but during the night a while back I woke up to the incredible sound of her throwing it against the wall on the porch! I think she just really LOVES making terrific noise! Anyway, now she has that bowl attached to her inside crate and another one attached to the outside of a smaller crate out on the porch. That crate isn't for her -- it has a heater inside it so she can stay warmer if it's cold outside and I'm away from home and haven't let her in. With the heater locked inside the crate, at least she can't eat THAT.
