and Mark will be home again on Wednesday. Yeaaaa! Good thing, too. He's had a couple of nights when he had to work straight through getting something or other fixed. And the way things go, if they're up all night, they STILL have to stay up during the day if that's their usual work period. Not good. I just hope he gets a chance to sleep just before they come back onshore so he doesn't have to drive home after having no sleep!
As for me, I spent the weekend doing the usual stuff for the dogs and the horses. The worst was Gigi's porch. I went out there Saturday to bring her inside to take a nap in the air conditioning (it's been in the high 90's out there all week), and when I went back out to pick up her water bowl to clean it out, I saw that the entire porch was COVERED with ants! Gees! I had just given her a new bone and they were all going back and forth to that thing so I guess that's what brought them all up onto the porch. Well, I did at least have ant and spider killer spray that I got a week or two ago. At the time, I did spray underneath the metal base in Gigi's crate so although they were all over the porch, they WEREN'T inside her crate so that stuff obviously did work. So I ended up spraying the entire porch floor and down between the boards wherever there was a bit of space. I went back inside and let it sit there on the floor for a while. When I went bac out, they were all dead so I wiped it off the top of the boards so she wouldn't be licking the stuff. And I took all of her toys AND that bone and put them through the dishwasher. Now it looks really tidy out there -- but she still wants to come inside. So apparently it's the heat and not the ants. ;-D Oh - and today is her 7-month birthday. No idea how much she weighs now. But the Trifexis meds are from 60 to 120 lbs. and we DO know that's appropriate for her so what the heck . . . it's just too darned hard to haul her to the vet so we will have no idea what she weighs until next year when her shots are due again!
