Another horse -- maybe??

Just talked to a guy who is selling his wife's Tennessee Walker.  She's 11 years old and looks wonderful.

They are in their 60's -- both retired -- and the wife stopped riding a few years back, so he has finally decided to sell her horse since they only have 3 acres.

She's gorgeous, isn't she?

Her only problem is that she is 16 hands tall -- pretty darned tall for me!  But on the other hand, since I will probably only generally be riding at home, I can just use my mounting block.  So I'm going to go check her out on Sunday if he hasn't sold her by then.

He does have another woman coming to check her out for her 10 year old daughter.  But he told me he would prefer that she go to me since she's not used to children, but rather his wife.  Oh -- and since his wife stopped riding, he has been alternating between his MFT and this mare so she HAS been ridden regularly despite his wife's riding retirement.  That's good.

Oh, he also told me about a 10-day trip he took up to the mountains in Tennessee where he rode her for more than a week and he said she did just great.  The only thing not wonderful about it was the trip!

He said when you go out into the pasture she will come running over to you - she loves being dealt with by people.  Hey - that's just like Duke!  A fine thing.

Anyway, he said he would be home from somewhere or other on Sunday around 3 and he would give me a call to let me know he's back and I can come by then.  So I hope I get a chance to go check her out Sunday.

We'll see.
