Things just happen as they will -- NOT necessarily as planned . . .

Well, on the plus side, I called Carl yesterday after lunch to see if he could come by sometime this week to deal with the stalls and pasture.  So what happened?  By the time I got home at 3 yesterday, he was already out there cleaning things up!  Wow!  I'm impressed.  And when I asked he was planning to come back by, he said to just give him a call and he'd be over!  Love it!

Ashley was planning to come by yesterday, too, but after reading a bunch of things about mold on saddles and inside rooms, I found out that we should not be cleaning those saddles inside the barn, and that once they ARE cleaned they will need to be covered with something that will kill any remaining mold or it will happen all over again.  So I ordered a few products for that online that should be showing up tomorrow or Saturday.  So Ashley is probably going to wait until then to come by again.  That works for me.

But the bad news is that I got an e-mail from Lisa at Bulldog Rescue this morning to say she won't be able to bring Bettie up this weekend (AGAIN???), but they are having a "meet and greet" (??) at a little park next to a restaurant in Metairie on Saturday and would I like to come down there to "meet" Bettie.  Hmmm.  I thought it had been arranged that I was going to be adopting her, NOT just "meeting" her.  I guess they were distressed by Jackie's return, but if they're correct about Bettie, there shouldn't be a problem with her.  Anyway, I told Lisa I would try and come down Saturday IF it isn't raining, but that I want the check back that I wrote when I got Jackie.  Then IF they finally get Bettie up here, I'll be glad to pay them for her, as well.  But if they don't get around to it I won't be out all that money either.

Besides, I'm thinking I probably should be visiting Animal Control and all the other rescue places here in town to see if any of them have a nice big dog we could use.  I really want to get on with it SOON since Boo has begun to behave as if he has a serious problem.  He tries to dig a hole and lay down out in the yard when it's way below freezing!  And he's very hard to get to eat.  There are all kinds of things happening at the moment that indicate he is getting really old.  I think a new dog might wake him up at least temporarily.  And it would certainly keep Joey busy and prevent him from harassing Boo as he has been doing more and more often lately.

Well, we'll see how it goes.  As for today - since the trash guys will be coming by early in the morning, it's time to take out ALL that trash in the garage and all that stuff that's sitting around in the kitchen.  Can't say I'm looking forward to going home tonight!  But the weekend should be way better anyway.  Here's hoping!
