Okay, I applied for another great dog today, but have to admit, I'm a bit less expectant this time. When I didn't hear back from Rescue.Me about Joy, the Rottweiler, that was definitely a "first" for me. I've always gotten the dogs I applied for in the past. . . . until "Joy."
So now I've applied for another even MORE wonderful dog -- this time a Cane Corso. Talk about GORGEOUS! And he's supposed to be nice and active and friendly, as well, although a bit nervous. So why they've had him in foster care for more than a year without adopting him out I'm not sure. Guess we'll have to wait and see if they will discuss it with me or not. The New Orleans Bulldog Rescue is, like Rescue.Me, a rescue with no phone number access, so if they decide not to respond to my application I will (again) have no way of finding out why. But . . . we will see.
Here's what they say about "Jackie" on their site, along with a few pictures from their PetFinder listing:

| Isn't he beautiful??? |

| This is his foster home, I believe. (He IS currently with two other dogs - apparently not even as large as ours.) |
And here's their listing on PetFinder:
About Jackie
Jackie, aka Jackie Boy (J.B.) aka Big Worm is an enormous dog with an even bigger heart. Jackie is the type of dog that is somewhat of a walking contradiction. A purebred Cane Corso, he looks fierce and his bark is too- However, in reality Jackie is a total sweetheart. He is incredibly loyal, sweet, goofy, curious, dramatic - all attributes that have expanded as his confidence grows. Jackie loves to run, play and explore outside. He is also extremely intelligent and very "tuned in" to his owner(s). Accordingly, we are looking for a family who can devote the time and energy to ensuring that he has proper structure, socialization, and affection in his life.
Whether at the vet or while in foster care, everyone loves this dog and the positive energy he radiates. He sometimes still gets nervous, and will need structured introductions to both people and other dogs. Jackie is currently in a home with two other dogs. He has good manners - but loves to play and may be overwhelming for other dogs.
We took in Jackie from the Jefferson Parish West Bank Shelter where he was brought in as a stray just prior to Hurricane Issac. A sensitive soul, Jackie had a very difficult time at the shelter and was identified by the shelter staff as a dog who needed to be pulled by a rescue. We are so grateful we did, and so are all those who have met him.
Jackie's size and temprament make him a very unique dog that is sure to enrich the lives of his new home. If you have room in your heart and home for this amazing lovable ridiculous beast, please email us.

So I did . . . fingers crossed.
