. . . but not as "over" as I thought for a little while there. I left work early today and headed out to that crown-making outfit to get my tooth color and shape determined. So I got home fairly early this afternoon - about 4 - and fell asleep. Woke up hearing Boo whining about wanting out. I jumped up and raced over to let him out and started to run out to the barn. I was thinking, "Oh, no -- it's already light outside and I haven't fed the horses or the dogs or even gotten out the clothes I need to wear to work!"
But after racing around in a panic for 5 minutes or so, I finally realized that it was 6:30 PM not 6:30 AM! Good grief! Thank heaven tomorrow is Friday!!!
Got Joey and Boo to the vet yesterday and that was NOT fun. Hanging onto Joey with other dogs around did NOTHING for my shoulder, that's for sure! As a matter of fact, he managed to make both me AND his vet hurt. She's having a shoulder problem at the moment as well! Her doctor had her all taped up to keep her shoulder in position and keep it from hurting her more, but dealing with Joey was hardly helpful! It's not that he tries to bite or hurt anyone, but when anyone gets close to him he gets excited and wants to lick their face and stick his head under their arm instead of quietly cooperating like Boo does. He spent a lot of time jumping up and down while she tried to examine him. Sigh. And after hauling him over there and killing my shoulder getting him in there, it turned out she couldn't do his thyroid test yesterday anyway! No one told me previously that the test is only valid if he has taken his meds exactly 4 to 6 hours previously. And by then, it had been 10 hours since his morning dose. So she just gave me enough prescriptions to last him until November anyway. Then we'll take him back over to have EVERYTHING done -- his thyroid blood test, his annual inoculations, his heart worm test and his stool exam. The rest of that stuff is due then anyway. Hmm. I think I'll get that appointment scheduled while MARK is home and let HIM hang onto him going in there! ;-D
As for Boo, she shaved the spot on his face where he 's been scratching and found that it was an infected bite of some sort. But in examining him, she said that those growths on his top lip may indeed be malignant. She suggested we schedule him to have them removed and they will send them off for analysis, and while he's anesthetized he can have his teeth cleaned as well. (His teeth are FILTHY.) In the meantime, I got a tube of prescription antibiotic ointment to put on that bite a couple times a day.
Oh - got a call a little while ago from the ortho doctor's office. Seems I DO have a rotator cuff problem. One of the tendons is torn. So now I'm going to have to go to physical therapy three days a week (!) for at least a month to try and get all of the other surrounding tendons strengthened so that the torn one can heal and my movement ability will be increased. If that doesn't work out, they say they'll have to consider surgery. THAT I do NOT want! If they do that I wouldn't be able to use my right arm for 6 weeks! They would treat it like a broken arm and put it in a sling! I can't even IMAGINE how I could get through 6 weeks with one arm!!! That physical therapy had by golly better work!
