Sure feels like it's been a long week at this point!
It all started Friday when I had to take Abigail up to AVS to get her a rabies shot so I could have a groomer shave off her hair. Poor baby has apparently gotten old enough that she no longer bothers to groom herself and her long hair that's been perfectly fine for the last 12 or 14 years suddenly had become SOLID mat! Because the cats are both old and tend to poop on the floor wherever they are when they feel like it, they live out on the back screened porch. And I've gotten allergic enough to them anymore that if I touch them (or somewhere where they've been sitting), then touch my eyes, they swell SHUT! So I haven't been picking them up very often. Well, I thought at first Abigail was getting chubby, but then I picked her up and realized that it wasn't that. It was SOLID MATS all over her! Thank goodness they have no fleas because if they did she would have been in horrendous shape.

I tried cutting the mats off with scissors, but there was no way -- she was matted all the way down to her skin. And I sure didn't want to take a chance on cutting HER and not just her hair, so I took off Friday at 2:00 so I could get over there to AVS before everyone else was off work. Ha! Seems AVS has suddenly begun taking appointments instead of making everyone come in and wait in line. (They COULD have let us know! Ahem!)
But as a result I had to wait around all those people with appointments before we could get in there. So by the time we got back home it was just before 7 PM!!! FIVE HOURS! (SURE wish I'd taken along my Kindle. Unfortunately -- not.)
So then I had to get up Monday morning well before daylight in order to get the horses and dogs fed, so I could get Abigail over to the groomer for 7 AM! Phew!

| Another "After" photo of Abigail. She has sort of a "lion" cut -- the hair on her head and her tail are still long. |
And THEN, when I got to work, the LSU Med Center director sent requests for info that took all afternoon to deal with, while I hoped I could be dealing instead with an application whose deadline was today. Sure wish LSU hadn't had their funds cut back as much as they have since "Bozo Bobby Jindal" became governor. Obviously the Med Center director has no secretary or assistant who can keep things filed and in order, because every time he wants to know something, he send us an e-mail -- even if we already told him 14 different times already! Sigh.
Oh, and our firm is about to begin storing everything online instead of in file cabinets as of January 1, 2014. I'm sure I'll like that a lot better ultimately. But getting it all put out there . . . well, it could be a BIT time consuming.
You know, I had planned to continue working until at least the end of next year. But there are days when I wonder if that's really what I want. You know, up until now, I've changed what I do at least every 5 years. I did work for Dow for a dozen years, too, but I also had three ENTIRELY different jobs while I was there. I was a plant secretary, then an environmental tech, then a shipping coordinator. Absolutely NO job connections there. But now I've been here in this same job for 15 years! I know I'm old, but come on . . . there MUST be something else I could do, huh? Suggestions, anyone???
Well, okay . . . generally I do like this job. So maybe by tomorrow I'll feel better about things.
We'll see.
