Terrific vacation week!

We had a house full of guests this week.  Mark's sister Vickie and her husband John came down on Saturday night, then my favorite daughter, Wendy, arrived on Tuesday!  Yeaaaa!  We visited with various Louisiana relatives and friends, then Saturday we had a crawfish gathering for 17 folks here at the house!  Loved it!

Here are some pictures I took of Wendy while she was here.  She took some good ones at the party Saturday but I don't have those just yet.  (Send them over when you get a chance, Wen, and I'll add them in here.)

We saddled up Duke yesterday - something that hadn't happened in a WHILE - but Wendy handled him just fine.

Believe me - it was pretty darned HOT out there!! They obviously BOTH think so!

By the time she quit, Duke was doing pretty well.  You know, I sure hope Lisa feels better soon so that hopefully we can talk her and Buddy into coming by and saddling up Duke on a regular basis - and maybe even Arthur! . . . even if not another thing gets done!  Duke really REALLY needs to work a lot more.  And he loves Lisa, that's for sure.

===========================

The guy who will be clearing off the land next door where Vickie and John, and Bruce and Bonnie will be building their homes, came by on Friday to talk about getting that done.  Then he brought a guy who works for him over, along with a bulldozer, bright and early on Saturday morning (7 AM!) and that guy has been scraping out everything except the big trees since then.  It's more than 4 acres, but there's been a lot done already in a day and a half.  We took a video view of the property from the road when we were on the way home from the airport this evening.  Mark talked to Bill, and they've spent 11 hours so far, so he's moving right along well.

This was taken by Mark while standing just a bit more than halfway across the property (that's our fence there in the background).  Those piles of plants and things like the ones there behind Mike and me can probably be set on fire and disappear when it gets dried out good.
This entire area IS cleared - but all the uprooted things have been piled up in a very tall pile there in the center.

And there's ANOTHER pile of uprooted "stuff" there on the right above.
Went out and took these pictures before we went out to eat and drove Wendy up to the airport so I know it got more cleared than that.  But whew . . . it is soooo hot out there that by the time I walked back to the house I was DRIPPING wet.  Vickie and John had to drive home to DC today and I know they're anxious to know exactly what's been done.  But I think I'll wait 'til tomorrow evening to walk back out there to see what it looks like - or whenever the guy is done.  That video as we drove by this evening will have to do for today!
