Oh no! . . . I'm turning into my dad!

Not that that would generally be a bad thing -- it wouldn't.  But at one point late in his life, he had so many supplements that the top of his chest of drawers was COVERED with them!  We all found that a BIT disturbing.  But I have begun that same sort of save-me-from-senility process myself!
I started out with Resveratrol.  That was all I had except the specific vitamins prescribed by my doctor.  Then a few months back I added Serovital HGH.  That did such a fine job of making me feel normal enough to get busy and do about anything that there was no way I would stop taking those.  At the same time, I added OmegaXL -- that's supposed to be great for arthritis, but in the book I'm currently reading, it's also good to help memory.
Okay.  I do actually feel way better than I had for years at this point, but my memory is still becoming more and more frighteningly deficient.  So . . . (here we go),  I came across a book recommended in a number of places called "100 Simple Things You can Do to Prevent Alzheimer's and Age-Related Memory Loss" and got it ordered.   Well . . .  I've had that book for a day and half and read only the first 93 pages (out of 300+) and I've already added two more supplements and multiple food items!!
The first supplement was Juvenon.   It contains acetyl-l-carnitine and alpha lipoic acid. The lipoic acid was useful to lower blood pressure, blood sugar and triglycerides so it's been given to diabetics previously.  But it was later discovered that it is one of the few antioxidant molecules that can zip through the blood-brain barrier to clear out a lot of problems that happen inside the brain.
In research at UC Berkeley, they determined that the combination of acetyl-l-carnitine and alpha lipoic acid  caused old, sluggish rats to become as physically and mentally active as rats half their age in a few weeks!  Hey!  I may not be a rat, but what the heck . . .  might as well give it a shot, huh?
And the second thing I learned was that cinnamon - yep, plain ol' cinnamon - not only works wonders for diabetics, lowering their fasting blood sugar by 29% after taken twice a day for 40 days, it also resulted in 30% reduction of triglycerides and 25% cholesterol reduction.  And THEN they found out that it can also stop the beginning of Alzheimer's by blocking the "tau filaments" that help initiate Alzheimer's.
I don't actually think I'll have Alzheimer's -- it hasn't happened in our family. My problem is at least presently limited to a tremendous loss of memory.  But what the heck.  Cinnamon is cinnamon.  Can't hurt, so I've added THAT too -- and gotten some for Mark as well.  He IS diabetic so it can't hurt for him, and might actually help.  (And given how he keeps absolutely everything on record, once he takes it for a while we will definitely know if it actually helps or not!)
Okay! . . . Time to get back to reading that book!   ;-D
(Gotta wonder if this woman actually ALLOWED this photo to go public . . .
or if it happened despite her objections.)
