Mark is going to be running the water and electrical lines out to the barn today and tomorrow - with Buddy and Lisa's help. I've been having problems with my legs again so even if I were home instead of at work, I probably wouldn't be much help with something like that. (Back to the doctor next week.)
But I'll still have plenty to do once I get home this afternoon. I plan to move our office (3 desks, 2 computers, 8 file cabinets, a TV, etc. etc. etc.) out into the central library upstairs, then turn that room we've been using back into a guest room. And I'll definitely need to do it while I have Lisa here to help me move all that stuff!
I'm not sure who all is coming down for Christmas this year, but once that room has been cleared out, we'll be back to three guest rooms instead of two -- much better. I want everyone to feel they can drop in absolutely anytime, no matter who else might be here. This house is way too big for me to keep straightened up at this point, but at least it's big enough for lots of company if they're not too picky! But hey -- I'll just call a maid before any visitors arrive!
I think Boo is going to be happy with the move. That way we will both be hanging out right next to him while he reclines on that love seat that's up there! Of course if we move the love seat away from the front window, that won't make him happy. When he hears something going on outside and can't see it from the front door, he races upstairs and jumps onto the love seat so he can look out the upstairs window. Hmm. I'll have to think how the furniture can be arranged. But I doubt that he'll get to keep his upstairs view. I just hope he doesn't feel the need to climb onto a desk instead if that's what ends up in front of the window! Well, we'll see.
The lights I ordered from Farm-Tek came yesterday. Mark hung one up temporarily in the front room of the barn last night and put one of those giant 85-watt fluorescent bulbs I ordered a while back in there -- that's that bulb that's a good foot tall. And when we turned it on it WAS really bright. But that was NOTHING compared to how it looked when I went back out a few hours later to check on the horses before bed. I left that light on and although I knew it would take a while for it to reach its full brightness, I couldn't believe how that thing looked by then. It was at least twice as bright as it had been when I was out there earlier. It IS supposed to equal a 300-watt regular bulb, but good grief! . . . you could barely look up at it without blinding yourself! Whew!
I'm planning to use another light like that in that central hallway in the center of the stalls, then put dimmer bulbs in the fixtures hanging above each of the actual stalls. But there will definitely be plenty of light in there if the vet needs to examine someone. She won't need take any horse outside anymore.
I hope we can get all that furniture moved this afternoon and tomorrow morning. Then I'm going to run and get a bag of winter rye grass seed and hope that there's enough time left for Lisa to walk around the pasture with that seeder and spread that seed. It's supposed to rain tomorrow night, and you're supposed to spread the seed right before a rain and then keep the horses in their paddock and away from it until it gets rained into the ground.
I also want to clean out our refrigerator. We've gotten to the point again where I have no idea what all there is at the back of all those shelves!
And if we get all that done? . . . well, I plan to collapse in front of the TV and/or computer all day on Sunday! I am seriously looking forward to that!
