Ladybug - November 13, 2011 |
Ladybug is gone. I'm numb. I just can't believe we've lost her. Last night she was just fine. When I said "good night" and left the barn she was happily eating her dinner -- and kicking the wall to freak out Lizzie as she ate - as usual.
And now . . . less than 24 hours later . . . she's gone.
I've had a lot of dogs over the years and yes, it was really really hard to lose them. But it was NOTHING like this. I can't believe this has happened. I miss her so much already. She was so - larger than life. So loving and active and adoreable. And now . . . nothing.
I can't expain it all right now. It's just way to painful. Maybe later. But what I CAN say is that I don't know how I would ever have gotten through this night without Torri. I am so grateful to her. I can't begin to tell you. She's an absolutely wonderful person. Thank you, Torri.

I'm so sorry to hear that. She was a beautiful horse.
Dear Sharon: I read your blog often and follow the stories of your pets whom you so clearly love. So sorry to hear about Ladybug.

I have been thinking about it and I wonder if she had been having problems for awhile. Didn't she just start sweating again recently? That might have been related.
Needless to say, I've been thinking about it a lot, too, and she WAS behaving a bit differently lately. Not only was she sweating, but she was also standing still "sleeping" fairly often lately, as well. I wonder now if that was because she was feeling bad, but didn't want the other horses to know it. That's true of wild horses, so maybe Bug, as well. I can tell you that if either of the other horses ever do ANYTHING the slightest bit "different" I will be checking into it IMMEDIATELY!
