Whew!

Mark's sister has been in the hospital up there in DC since late last week where they have been trying to determine exactly what her problem is.  Well, they finally figured it out.  It seems scar tissue from her previous abdominal surgeries has interfered with the function of her small intestines and so they had to go in tonight and operate.  They thought they might be able to rectify the problem endoscopically, but as it turned out, they had to make an abdominal incision along an old incision line, so she's going to be stuck in the hospital for at least another 5 days!  Poor Vickie!  But at least it's been identified and dealt with now.  I guess we can stop worrying and start cheering her on to recovery at this point.

When I talked to John he said he was going to get her settled back in her room after she gets out of recovery, then head back to the house to let their dogs out.  She had been scheduled to have surgery this morning, but didn't actually make it in there until 8 PM!  (Talk about running a BIT late - like 12 HOURS!)  But anyway, John has been there at the hospital since early this morning while their three Westies have been in the house all day long.  He BETTER head home soon!
And speaking of their Westies, check out the flowers "they" (actually John) sent her!  Talk about cute!  It actually DOES look like a Westie, doesn't it?

As for me, I might have a problem or two, but I like to think I'm going to get over it WAY more easily than poor Vickie has.  Just one more day before that spinal injection that I keep telling myself will make me totally, completely, absolutely well and pain-free.  (Please, please, please . . .)

And in the meantime, I have an entire DOZEN of those yummy Chef John Folse Bulgarian yogurts to enjoy.  Buddy and Lisa brought them by just after work tonight.  Well -- they did bring me a dozen, but I'm already down to 10 if the truth be told . . . but that's still enough to keep me happy for the rest of the week.  (At least I'll TRY and make them last that long, anyway.)

And Mark will be home again first thing in the morning!  Yeaaaaa!  Every time he goes to work any more he seems to be gone longer for some reason.

I hope this turns out to be as great a weekend as I think it will.   And I really hope Vickie will be feeling better and be able to eat again by then.
