Good news!

Mark just had his follow-up visit to Oschner's this morning to find out about the tests he had done there last week.  Bottom line is -- there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with his heart!  So, as we thought, that heart cath that that other doctor tried to get him to have WAS a money-making procedure that was definitely NOT necessary.

So Mark will NOT be seeing that guy again.  I'm very happy to hear that -- I can't stand doctors who try to order things without explaining or discussing them with you and that guy NEVER took the time to explain a darned thing.  Of course, the fact that the stuff he wanted done wasn't necessary may explain why he wasn't willing to discuss it!

Mark's blood pressure, however, IS high so he's back on medication for that and will be going back to Oschner's for a recheck in three months.

You know, if the procedures Dr. R. has in mind for me are not effective, I think I may visit Oschner's myself.  The great thing about that place is that all their specialists work TOGETHER so that patients never have, for example, dangerous drug interactions.  I think I mentioned earlier that Mark's Mom had been told at one point that there was nothing more her doctor(s) could do for her and she was going to be sent to a long term care facility and more or less abandoned by them.  His sister took her down to New Orleans to the main Oschner's facility and they managed to get her health improved enough that she could live in an apartment of her own for another ten years or more.  That's why Mark decided to visit them when he got all those "iffy" orders from that heart doctor.  Sure glad he did!
