I decided not to do anything today that required bending over, because when I bend down (like to pick up a dog bowl or a horse water bucket or whatever), I'm fine until I try to stand back up -- then my hip hurts something awful and it's hard to stay standing up. Ouch! So -- I decided to try NOT pushing it for today to see if the problem is similar to what used to happen when I would pull something in my back.
I used to be an environmental tech at a chemical company. One of the things I had to do was lean out over the drainage canals to collect water samples. I don't know if it was something in the air coming off the water or just some sort of pollen or something in the air out there, but more than a few times while I was leaning out over the canal I would sneeze and that would pull something in my back. If I was very careful not to turn or lean in such a way that it made my back hurt for the next week or so, the pain would go away.
Well, I'm thinking that may be true of this injury, too, because it does feel better tonight than it has since it happened almost two weeks ago. But then this is the first day I've made a point of not pushing it. (Poor Mark has been doing EVERYTHING for me today. What a guy!) I guess that's a good discovery. But if not bending over for the duration is what it's going to take to feel better, it by golly better heal FAST because once Mark goes back to work it's going to be impossible for me to feed dogs and horses without bending over and straightening up! (You never think about how often you have to make certain moves until you can't -- and then it's absolutely amazing to find out just HOW often those moves are completely unavoidable.)
So . . . time to concentrate on getting over this SOON -- really soon!
