It is gorgeous again today! I WAS going to sleep outside again last night. It was another nice cool night and I was really looking forward to it -- and I did go to bed out there. But sleep? . . . afraid not.
There were what sounded like about half a dozen big dogs over in the 10 densely-wooded acres next to us who kept carrying on (and causing all the neighbors' dogs to join in) ALL night long. They would sound like they were attacking something, then get quiet. Then they would just bark and howl for a while, then get quiet again. I've never heard anything like it around here before. I would have been concerned about the horses if it weren't for Ladybug. But I knew if they tried to harass them, she could manage to take them out -- or at the very least run them off. She is definitely dog-aggressive and has trampled dogs and coyotes to death in the past. When Al owned her, he used to use her to guard his calves.
Anyway, last night my sleep was pretty much destroyed. I would think they were done and I would nod off, and then they'd start again! So finally - about 4 AM - I gave up and went back inside. You should see me this morning! I used concealer and some heavy makeup, but you can still see the dark circles under my eyes!
I think tonight I'm going to have a nice "Fuzzy Naval" drink before I hit the sack. At this point in life, one drink is enough to pretty much knock me out completely! And I definitely plan to BE knocked out tonight!
Joey, on the other hand, is having a FINE day today. For the first time, he jumped up into the truck to go to therapy this morning with no help at all (wow!) and proceeded to walk into therapy on all four feet! They were impressed. So was I, actually. He's been walking on that leg off and on lately, but this morning he was walking on it almost normally. Excellent!
