Another working Monday

I'm back here at work in a heavy sweater with my heater on -- after nearly melting over the weekend.  I swear, they keep this place so cold you could hang meat in here!   I guess I have a really narrow comfort range.

One of the doctors from the Dermatology department over at LSU called this morning.  Apparently they've been going over to therapy and checking out Joey every time he comes in.  They seem to have come to realize that whether he has a rash or redness or whatever on his skin or not seems completely unrelated to what treatment he's having at the moment - if any.   Currently his skin has totally cleared up.  Why?  Who knows!  We took him off the antibiotics over a week ago.  Then after I picked up that medicated shampoo last Monday, those rashes cleared up before I even got a chance to bathe him with it!   And he's been perfectly fine ever since - except that knee that keeps coming out of joint, of course.   (Sigh.)

I'm waiting to hear from Craig about whether Ashley is going to feel well enough to do Joey's surgery or not.  If she's not, I guess we'll have to bite the bullet and find a way to handle that $1500 it'll take to have Dr. Saile at LSU do it.  But I'm going to hold off on that decision until mid-week when Mark gets home.   Joey is no longer "screaming" every time it slips out (which is less often now too, by the way) so I feel like I can take a few more days to decide.

Here in my office I have no windows, but I can hear very loud thunder claps right now.  MORE rain coming, apparently.  What I don't understand is why, since it's been raining some just about every day for the last 10 days or so, the ground is still cracked and dry.  I know it probably takes a lot of water to make up for that long drought we've been having, but come on - - -  is it going to have to rain FOREVER for the ground to look normal again???

I'll be leaving in a couple more hours to go pick up Joey, then go home and feed the horses, give them some hay, and tidy up their stalls for the night.  Then we'll be down to just 2 more days until Mark gets home again.  Can't be soon enough for me.
