Whew!

This did NOT feel like a weekend.  Busy, busy, busy.  And now Mark has left to drive down to New Iberia for a rig jacking class -- he'll be gone all week.  He's been jacking rigs for decades, but the new government regs require that he be recertified, so . . .  away for the week.  Phooey.  He'll get home on Friday afternoon and his sister and her husband will come in from DC on Saturday.  They will be staying with us until after Christmas.  So I get to spend the week by myself trying to straighten up the house.  (Hmm.  Wonder if Mark arranged to take that class this week on purpose???)

The horses are loving that HayHut (darned good thing!!).   Check out Duke.
Here are Duke and River - sharing for a change.
Duke hasn't completely resigned himself to sharing yet, but that's really pretty funny.  He's playing "musical horses" with the others.  He will stop eating and walk toward the nearest horse -- that used to make them run away and stay away.  But now, they all just walk away from him around and around the HayHut until he stops and goes back to eating, at which time they all go back to the nearest hay window, too.  Funny!

But there are eight windows in that thing and only seven horses in that pasture, so they all get to use it.  That a good thing.  Even shy little Lizzie . . . although she does seem to feel pretty concerned that it she sticks her head too far in there someone will sneak up on her.  She's probably right, poor baby.

In that new "ear net" she looks like a Christmas elf, doesn't she?   Those huge ears seem sized to fit a mule rather than a horse!  But at least she doesn't have to have a fly mask over her eyes this way -- I'm sure she prefers the ear net to the fly mask no matter HOW silly she looks.
