Had dinner at the Islamorada Fish House over at the Bass Pro store yesterday. It's just down the road from The Runnels School where we went to see South Pacific (a benefit) last night. Not THAT wild about the food there. Local sea food is always better. But the atmosphere is nice and quiet, and the wait staff is excellent.
Now the play, on the other hand, was terrific. Didn't expect anything NEARLY that good at a High School, for goodness sake! Most of the actors were Runnels School alumni - except the two children, who were current students. But everyone seemed entirely professional, including the live orchestra. Amazing!
One of my boss, John's dogs, Khayenne (above), played a side-kick to sailor Billis. Hard to get pictures of her since she moved so quickly most of the time and we weren't allowed to use a flash, but she did VERY well.
Here's my boss (on the right), playing Captain Brackett, the Navy guy in charge, chewing out sailor Billis . . .
while Khay waits on the side.
Below are the three 40's singers at a USO show doing the Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy number. The redhead looked REALLY authentic with her hair rolled up along the bottom in a VERY 40's style. But they were all terrific.
I think the sailors were about to launch into the "Nothing Like a Dame" number below.
The girl who played the lead (Nurse Nellie Forbush) was GREAT. She had a terrific voice and was an absolutely wonderful actress.
And even the children were good, speaking wonderful French!
All in all -- a really enjoyable evening.
As for the dog yard fencing Mark planned to complete this weekend . . .
They got the top rails up Saturday, but 10 minutes after Jerry got here this morning, the sky opened up and that was it. It never fails.
So here's Mark, kicked back reading the paper instead of putting up fencing (accompanied by a throw pillow that Joey obviously got to first - he ate the zipper). Down the road I'd love a new sofa -- but NOT until Joey is much, MUCH older. Sigh.
