If it's not one thing, it's another. Al called me this morning to tell me that he had put Ladybug into the other cattle pen because when he turned Pops out into the main pasture this morning for the first time, he immediately began following Bug around and mounting her. Sigh.
Here are pics of the new guy:
His name is "Pops" but he's only 4 years old, a Percheron/Quarter Horse cross.
On the other hand, I took this picture last weekend -- Duke was following Bug around, too. So maybe it's NOT just Pops. Maybe she's coming into season already. Anyway, she's out of the pasture now and hanging out next to Lizzie in the cattle pens and they both seem happy -- Lizzie because she doesn't ever like to be alone, so she's happy Bug is there. As for Bug, she generally DOES like to be alone, but she and Lizzie seem to be getting along quite well, so that's good . . . good preparation for bringing them home when they'll probably be pastured together.
Looking through my pictures to post the ones above, I remembered these I took at Janet and Mike's place Sunday. They began to have problems with their porch structure and discovered that the people who built their house didn't put an appropriate foundation under their enormous front porch. The shifting movement of the porch was affecting the house itself. So . . . they got someone to come replace the porch posts and put in a sturdy foundation underneath. I knew they were putting in stronger posts, but when I got over there and looked at them I couldn't BELIEVE the size of those things!! They look like they could support a 10-story building, not just a porch! Look at these things!
Janet absolutely LOVES them:
I told her the next time we have a hurricane they need to just strap themselves to those posts. The house may blow away, but those posts aren't going ANYWHERE! ;-)
